15 tapped to lead divisions

Fifteen people will help campaign chairmen J.R. Armstrong and Linda Fondren work toward the United Way of West Central Mississippi’s $1,400,000 fundraising goal. The divisions and their leaders:

Account Managers

Jill Ledet, chairman

Jill Ledet is a senior accountant at May and Company, and this is her second year to lead Account Managers.

She has been a United Way account manager.

Ledet is a member of St. Paul Catholic Church. She is a graduate of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. She is married to Jeremy Ledet.

Commercial

Wanda Caruthers, co-chairman

Wanda Caruthers, vice president of commercial lending at BancorpSouth, is leading the Commercial division for the second year. She also has been a United Way account manager and commercial account associate.

She is president of the Exchange Club of Vicksburg, a board member of the Child and Parent Center and president of the Clear Creek and Vicksburg Country Club ladies’ golf associations. She is a member of Crawford Street United Methodist.

Caruthers has an associate’s degree from Hinds and attended the University of Mississippi School of Banking and Vanderbilt University’s Southeastern School of Banking. She and her husband, Mike, have two sons.

Terisa Cochran, co-chairman

Terisa Cochran is a banker with Guaranty Bank.

She has been a United Way Donor Investment Education panel member, Donor Investment Basic Needs panel member, a telemarketing volunteer, account associate and campaign coordinator.

She has been part of the Over the River Run and Riverfest committees. She is on the Exchange Club of Vicksburg and MIDD-West Industries boards.

Cochran attended Mississippi State and the Mississippi Bankers Association School of Banking. She and her husband, David, have three children and three grandchildren.

Large Firms

Chris Chatham, co-chairman

Chris Chatham is director of player development at Ameristar Casino.

He has been a United Way Donor Investment executive committee chairman, a Donor Investment Basic Needs panel member and a Day of Caring participant. He is on the board and executive committee.

Chatham is a graduate of Vicksburg High and Mississippi State. He and his wife, Angel, have a son.

Ken Hicks, co-chairman

Ken Hicks is a managing partner at May Financial Group. He has been a United Way campaign and board chairman.

He is on the advisory board of Audubon Mississippi, is a member of Vicksburg Rotary and is on the Vicksburg-Warren County Chamber of Commerce board.

Hicks is a graduate of Mississippi State. He and his wife, Margaret, have four children and four grandchildren.

Leadership

Tommy Miller

Tommy Miller is director of Good Shepherd Community Center.

Miller is United Way’s campaign coordinator for Good Shepherd and has participated in the Day of Caring.

He is president of Port City Kiwanis Club, is a former Habitat for Humanity board member, is a volunteer with Storehouse Community Food Pantry and a member of Hawkins United Methodist.

He is a graduate of Mississippi College and Southern Methodist University. He and his wife, Debby, have two children and a grandchild.

Debby Miller

Debby Miller is a volunteer with Good Shepherd Community Center. She has been a volunteer with United Way and Service Over Self Youth Mission. She is a member of Hawkins United Methodist. She is a graduate of the University of South Alabama. She and her husband, Tommy, who is co-chairman of Leaderhip, have two children and a grandchild.

Local Government

Angela Brown, co-chairman

Angela Brown is Warren County’s deputy tax assessor, and this is her third year to lead the Local Government division.

Brown is a United Way board member and has been a campaign coordinator, Donor Investment Health panel member and a Day of Caring participant.

She is a member of Word of Faith Christian Center, where she is a Sunday school teacher. She is a volunteer with the Storehouse Community Food Pantry and the Child and Parent Center.

Brown is a graduate of Hinds Community College and Jackson State University. She has two daughters.

Marie Thompson, co-chairman

Marie Thompson is the City of Vicksburg’s intergovernmental policy adviser. She began leading United Way fundraising efforts among city employees last year.

Thompson is a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council 898 Ladies Auxiliary and the Mississippi Municipal League. She on the boards of the Child and Parent Center and Warren Yazoo Mental Health.

Thompson is a graduate of San Diego State. She has three children and three grandchildren.

Pacesetter

Amy Haygood, chairman

Amy Haygood is a Trustmark Bank branch manager and vice president.

She has been a United Way loan executive, telemarketing volunteer and Commercial division associate. She is president of the Exchange Club of Vicksburg, a Mississippi State University Extension Service Money Mentor, the county chairman of the Mississippi Young Bankers Association and an ambassador with the Vicksburg-Warren County Chamber of Commerce.

Haygood is a member of Bowmar Baptist Church. She has a bachelor’s degree from Mississippi State University and is a graduate of the Mississippi School of Banking. She and her husband, Gary, have two teenage children, Blake and Anna.

Professional

Doug Sills, chairman

Doug Sills is chief executive officer of River Region Health System.

He has previous United Way fundraising experience.

He is a member of the Vicksburg-Warren County Chamber of Commerce and Vicksburg Kiwanis Club. He has a bachelor’s degree from Mississippi College and has nearly 30 years of health care management experience. He and wife, Becky, have two children and two grandchildren.

Schools

Karen Stambaugh, co-chairman

Karen Stambaugh is a special education case manager with the Vicksburg Warren School District.

She is a member of Colonial Heights Baptist Church in Ridgeland. Stambaugh has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern Mississippi and a master’s from Crown College, near Minneapolis. She has one son.

Charlotte Grant, co-chairman

Charlotte Grant is an administrative assistant at the Vicksburg Warren School District central office.

She is the United Way’s campaign coordinator at the central office and has participated in Day of Caring.

Grant is a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where she is on the parish council. She attended the YMCA School of Commerce. She and her husband, Roy, have two daughters and four grandchildren.

Small Business

Kamace Priest, chairman

Kamace Priest is an Anderson-Tully safety supervisor.

She has been a United Way account associate and the campaign coordinator for Anderson-Tully. She is part of the agency’s board.

She is a small-group leader at Bowmar Baptist and a fundraiser for the American Red Cros.

She has a licensed practical nursing degree from Panola College in Carthage, Texas. She and husband, Stan, have a daughter.

Special Gifts

Harley Caldwell, chairman

Harley Caldwell is a Realtor. She has been a United Way account associate and telemarketer.

She is a schools volunteer and life member of Junior Auxiliary. She is a graduate of Mississippi State and the Association of Realtors Esteemed Leadership. She and husband, Rick, have two sons and a daughter.
