Claudine G. Davis

BENTON — Claudine G. Davis died Tuesday, June 21, 2011, at University Medial Center in Jackson. She was 76.

A Yazoo County native, Mrs. Davis was a homemaker and a member of Midway Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie and Ouida Eldridge Guthrie.

She is survived by her husband, George Davis of Benton; one son, Mike Davis of Benton; three daughters, Vickie Steele of Yazoo City, Jo Luby of Madison and Janet Ward of Vicksburg; a brother, Jessie Guthrie Jr. of Benton; two sisters, Claudia Saxton and Carlee Berry, both of Clinton; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Midway Baptist Church with the Revs. Joseph Luby and Arlie Francis officiating. Burial will follow at Midway Baptist Cemetery under the direction of Stricklin-King Funeral Home of Yazoo City. Visitation will be at the church from 9 a.m. Friday until the service.

Pallbearers will be John Robert Ward, Jordan Davis, Tracy Stark, Rick Elam, Brad Oberhousen, Matt Edgar and Grant Mayfield.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ricky Saxton, James “Bubba” Berry, Henry Wade, Tim Luby and members of The Supper Club.
