Margaret R. Tremaine

Margaret R. Tremaine died Thursday, June 23, 2011, at Shady Lawn Nursing Home. She was 99.

Born in Illinois, Mrs. Tremaine was reared on a farm and owned and operated two cafes before moving to Mississippi in the 1960s. She bought and sold real estate until her husband’s death, then owned and operated Northside Variety Shop for a number of years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Tremaine; her parents, James and Grace F. Wahl; two brothers, Henry Wahl and James Alford Wahl; a sister, Dorothy Glenn; and one grandson, Kyle Tremaine.

She is survived by three sons, John Tremaine, Robert Tremaine and Phil Tremaine; a sister, Grace Kaidell; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Old Salem Cemetery in Riddle Hill, Ill. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 tonight at Fisher Funeral Home and from 2 until 3 p.m. Sunday at Ellinger-Kunz and Parker Funeral Home in Springfield, Ill.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
