Elsie Flowers Bridges

Elsie Flowers Bridges died Tuesday, July 5, 2011, at River Region Medical Center in Vicksburg. She was 79.

Born in Lake Village, Ark., Mrs. Bridges was the daughter of the late Thomas Fulton Flowers and Dorothy VanNess Flowers. She was the widow of Lewis M. Bridges.

Mrs. Bridges had been a resident of Monticello since 1973 and was a member of the Monticello Baptist Church.

She is survived by three daughters, Karen B. Kittrell (Marty) of Vicksburg, Wanda B. Pennington (Jerry) of Monticello and Sonja B. Jones (Henry) of Wesson; five grandchildren, Scott Pennington, Justin Pennington, Susan Kittrell, Carter Kittrell and Dorothy Mitchell; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Lou Sandefur (John) of Greenville; and a brother, Tom Flowers of Jackson.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Monticello Baptist Church with the Rev. Tim Morrison officiating. Family burial services will be at the Monticello Town Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. Sunday at the Monticello Baptist Church until the hour of the service.
