Peggy G. Durham was born Aug. 2, 1940, in Vicksburg and passed away on July 8, 2011, at the age of 70.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Maxie “Puddy” Gastrell.

Peggy is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, George E. Durham, who is a retired lieutenant colonel (U.S. Army); her daughter, Kelly Sowda and her husband, Chris; son, Ged Durham; four grandchildren, Kadie and Ty Durham and Ali and Cheyenne Sowda, who knew her as “Nan”; sisters, Joyce Johnson of Clinton and Patricia Corbitt of Teton Falls, N.J.; brother, Greg Gastrell of Vicksburg; and other relatives and friends.

Visitation began at 9 a.m. today, July 11, 2011, in the Chapel of Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home with funeral services following at 10. Interment was at Forest Park The Woodlands Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation in memory of Peggy.
