Vicksburg’s run in the Mel Kiper 7-on-7 National Championships in Washington, D.C. came to a crashing halt on Friday.

The Gators were bounced to the loser’s bracket after falling, 34-26, in the playoffs to Calvert Hall, Md.

Just two hours later, the Gators were out of the playoffs, losing a 34-32 heartbreaker to Linganore, another Maryland school, in the loser’s bracket. Vicksburg ended its run in the tournament with a 2-3 record.

The Gators will depart for home today at 3 p.m. and are scheduled to arrive back in Vicksburg Sunday at 7:30 a.m.
