Esther L. Cook Jackson

Services for Esther L. Cook Jackson will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Mount Calvary M.B. Church with Pastor Mincer Minor Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Saturday at Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home and Sunday at the church from 1 p.m. until the service.

Ms. Jackson died Wednesday, July 20, 2011, at her daughter’s home. She was 91.

Born in Estill, Miss., Ms. Jackson attended Vicksburg Public Schools and was a 1938 graduate of Magnolia High School. She was a member of Mount Calvary M.B. Church, where she served on the mother board.

She was preceded in death by one son, Rdean Jackson; her parents, John and Artelia Horton Anderson; two brothers, Johnny Anderson and Ernest Anderson; and three sisters, Catherine Anderson, Sarah Anderson and Dorothy Bell.

Survivors include one son, Lonnie Ray Jackson of Dallas; one daughter, Edna Jackson Green of Vicksburg; two foster sons, Isaac Perkins of Plano, Texas, and James E. Perkins of Edwards; two stepdaughters, Brenda McCoy of Dallas and Linda Diane Williams of Annandale, Va.; three sisters, Arlene Smith of Vicksburg and Corrine Watson and Mildred Thomas, both of Chicago; six grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and stepgreat-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and an uncle.
