Charles Raymond McBroom

RICHLAND — Charles Raymond McBroom died Friday, July 22, 2011, at the St. Dominic Jackson Memorial Hospital. He was 79.

A longtime resident of Vicksburg, he was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was retired as Engine Foreman for the Illinois Central Railroad in Vicksburg after 40 years employment. He was a member of Richland United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Audrey Allen McBroom of Richland; daughters, Connie Elkovich and husband Richard of Sylva, N.C., and Linda Boren and husband Carl Jr. of Port Gibson; a son, Preston T. Riley and wife Brenda of Gatlinburg, Tenn.; a sister, Hazel Allen and Husband Tommy of Decatur, Ala.; a brother, Claude McBroom and wife Mary of Right City, Mo.; 3 grandchildren, Jason Charles Boren of Myersville, Md., Jennifer Folsom of Atlanta, Ga., and Jana Persons of Vicksburg; 6 great grandchildren, Andrew Lang, Bailen Caldwell, Addison Caldwell, Haley Trent, Jared Boren and Emma Boren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Wintergreen Cemetery in Port Gibson with the Rev. David Harrison officiating. Memorials are requested to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

Glenwood Funeral Home in Port Gibson is in charge of the arrangements.
