Melanie Y. Wells has been commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Army after completing the Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps program and graduating with a bachelor’s degree from Alcorn State University.

A 2006 graduate of Warren Central High School, she is the daughter of Herbert L. Norfort and Tasha M. Wells, both of Vicksburg.
