Baptists seek school uniforms for flood victims

Children of flood victims in Vicksburg and Warren County will have a chance to get free school uniforms Aug. 6 thanks to a group of Southern Baptist churches.

New and used public school uniforms are being collected through Sunday by 14 churches in the Warren County Baptist Association and are intended only for those whose homes were damaged by the 2011 Mississippi River Flood.

“We hope people will be generous in their Christian giving,” said Dr. Farris Smith, interim director of missions for the association. “The uniforms will be helpful.”

Anyone who has school uniforms that their children have outgrown, or who would like to purchase and donate new uniforms may take them to any of the member churches or the association office at 3040 Indiana Ave., just behind Battlefield Discount Drugs, Smith said.
