The drill was part of the Warren County Emergency Management Agency’s preparedness plan in case of a failure at Grand Gulf Nuclear Station in Claiborne County. EMA director John Elfer said the plan uses the City of Vicksburg Fire Department, Warren County Volunteer Fire Departments, the Mississippi Red Cross and the Department of Human Services. Both MEMA and FEMA are present at the drill to grade the participants on their performance in response to a radiation disaster. About 40 emergency responders took part in the drill, Elfer said.
