Dr. Thomas Davidson Bolden

Dr. Thomas Davidson “Tommy Tom” Bolden died Sunday, July 24, 2011, at River Region Medical Center. He was 70.
Dr. Bolden attended public schools in Harrison and Hinds counties. He attended Tougaloo College and received a Bachelor of Science degree from Alcorn A&M College, a Master of Science degree from Iowa State University and a Ph.D. from Kansas State University.
He was a member of the American Chemical Society, American Society of Biochemists and Molecular Biologists, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the Mississippi Academy of Science, Alpha Chi Sigma and Sigma Xi honor societies and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc.
He was a board member of the International Ballet Competition and the Harriette Person Library. He was named professor emeritus for contributions to Alcorn State University.
Survivors include a son, Eric Bolden of Verona, Wis.; a daughter, Jennifer Wellington of New Zealand; one sister, Dr. Jacqueline Brock of Tallahassee, Fla.; six grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be at noon Monday at Oakland Memorial Chapel on the Alcorn State University campus with the Rev. Elijah Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Carbondale Cemetery under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home of Port Gibson.
Memorials may be made in Dr. Bolden’s name to the Alcorn State University Foundation.
