Luis Avilan pitched a four-hit gem to pace the Mississippi Braves to a 6-0 win over the Jackson Generals Tuesday night at Pringles Park.

Avilan (3-6) struck out four and walked only one in seven stellar innings.

The offense backed Avilan with a 10-hit onslaught, paced by a three-hit night by Donnell Linares and a two-hit effort by Dan Nelson.

The M-Braves wasted little time getting in gear in the first. Nelson hit a two-out double and later scored on a Linares RBI single.

Mississippi plated three more in the fifth, loading the bases against Stephen Penney.  Linares was hit by a pitch to force in a run and Matt Kennelly came through with a two-out RBI single to bring him home.

Moises Hernandez (3-1) took the loss for the Generals in four innings of work. He allowed four hits and two runs.

The M-Braves added two more in the eighth off Jackson reliever Edward Paredes.

The series resumes at 6 p.m. tonight at Pringles Park.
