Junious Davenport

HERMANVILLE — Junious Davenport died Monday, Aug. 8, 2011, at Promise Specialty Hospital. He was 84.

Mr. Davenport was retired from Prolerized Chicago Corp. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the Vietnam War.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richmond and Emma Davenport; his wife, Sylena Marbra Davenport; one son, Frank Davenport; one sister, Marcella Fields; one brother, James Davenport; and two grandsons, John Davenport and General Linzy.

Survivors include a son, Jimmie Davenport of Chicago; eight daughters, Emma Linzy of Clinton, Mozella Guy, Francis Neal and Gwendolyn Baker, all of Port Gibson, Everlean Myles, Agusta Davenport and Della Robinson, all of Vicksburg, and Gloria Williams of St. Louis; 24 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at The Rising Sun M.B. Church in Port Gibson with the Rev. Eddie Wells officiating. Burial will follow at Rohelia Baptist Church Cemetery in Utica. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Friday at Westhaven Funeral Home in Utica.
