Vicksburg police officer Chris Tankesly buckles 6-year-old Pardre Gray Jr., the son of Pardre Gray Sr. and Angela Gray, into a booster seat during a child-seat checkpoint Tuesday at Kids Are Kids, a preschool on Washington Street. Seats were inspected and new ones given to parents if they weren’t safe. The seats were provided through a state-funded Occupant Protection Program grant. The VPD will participate in National Checkpoint Saturday, set for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 24 at Walmart.
