Two jailed in washer, dryer theft

Two Vicksburg men were in the Issaquena County Jail Saturday, accused in the theft of a washer and dryer reported missing Monday, said Sgt. Sandra Williams of the Vicksburg Police Department.

Albert McLaurin, 43, 2414 Drummond St., was arrested Friday morning by Vicksburg police at his home and charged with grand larceny.

Xavier Hill, 43, 1401 South St., was arrested at Clay and Monroe streets and charged with receiving stolen property. He is accused of selling the washer and dryer, Williams said.

The set, valued at $1,100, was reported missing from a home in the 2000 block of Drummond Street.

McLaurin and Hill were being held without bond until their initial appearance Monday in Vicksburg Municipal Court.
