‘Support your president’ sentiment lacking in today’s society

Published 12:01 am Sunday, August 21, 2011

This letter is for Gail Allison and all those who think President Barack Obama is what’s wrong with The United States of America. LEARN THE HISTORY OF THIS COUNTRY, PLEASE.

One man cannot, and did not, bring down this country in 2 1/2 years. I have read the opinions of many of my friends and most of their opinions are the same as yours. If John McCain had been elected and made the same decisions Obama has made, there would not be a negative word said.

In a country that is supposed to be “for the people,” politicians of both parties are only looking out for themselves. Whatever happened to “support your president”?

Yes, our country is going through some things, but that’s life. We have the slogan “In God We Trust” on our currency, but God is nowhere to be found.

As for those who “have been on ‘public dole’ for generations and pass it down to their children and grandchildren, who are you to judge? There are those who actually need the help (and there are those who don’t).

Instead of band-wagoning and putting down our president — calling out his faults and calling him names — call for those who sit up high to take a pay cut and help out the deficit. Look at what President and Mrs. Obama are doing for our children. Mississippi residents are the fattest in the country, yet, no one is talking about that. Our schools are below standard, but no one is talking about that.

I suggest, we as a country get back to the real task at hand: Putting God back at the head of all of our lives from the president on down.
