Brothers Andy, right, and Dave Cornthwaite, both from London, England, paddle on paddle boards through Vicksburg on the Mississippi River Thursday. Dave Cornthwaite is on a mission to break the world record for the longest distance paddled on a standup board. He began his trip in Elk Lake, Minn., June 19 and hopes to finish Sept. 7. At the end of the trip, he will have paddled 2,400 miles and is hoping to raise $1.6 million for the AV Foundation, a nonprofit organization that works toward a goal of clean drinking water for sub-Saharan African schools, and a breast cancer awareness charity.
