Vicksburg Country Club won eight singles matches Sunday, but it was not enough to wrestle the Warren County Cup away from host Clear Creek.

Clear Creek won eight singles matches to maintain its two-point lead and win the cup for the third straight year, 17-15.

Clear Creek got five early wins from Kent Smith, Issac Williams, Shawn Kurtz, Javier Torres and Rocky Shiers to go up 14-7. VCC got back into it with match play wins from Johnny Mims, Larry Rocconi, Bob Houser and Eddie Buckner to narrow the margin to 14-11.

Bill Kelly’s 4 and 3 win over Chris Sullivan gave Clear Creek its 16th point. Chris Ingram, a former St. Aloysius golfer from the Class 1A state title team, beat Warren Central’s Parker Rutherford 1 up to retain the Cup for Clear Creek.

VCC got wins from Jake Dornbusch (1 up), Will Dottley (6 and 5) and Todd Boolos (4 and 3) to close the gap.
