Damon Carr

LORMAN — Damon “Joe” Carr died Sunday, Aug. 28, 2011, at Promise Hospital in Vidalia, La. He was 76.

Mr. Carr was a member of Waterloo M.B. Church in Lorman, where he sang in the choir.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Mattie Singleton Carr; a brother, Fred “Bro” Carr; and two sisters, Ruby Yarbrough-Reynolds and Martha W. Carr-Spiller.

Mr. Carr is survived by his wife, Bertha Lee Gray Carr of Lorman; two sons, Tony Gray of Baton Rouge and Damon Carr Jr. of Lorman; five daughters, Wanda F. Carr-Blue and Sherrie L. Carr-Rowe, both of Baton Rouge, and LeKisha Carr, LeKita Carr and Tanya Carr, all of Lorman; two brothers, Fred Carr of Lorman and Douglas Carr of Chicago; two sisters, Freddie Carr Taylor and Velva Carr, both of Chicago; nine grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Waterloo M.B. Church with the Rev. Leon Howard officiating. Burial will follow at McCay Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 until 6 today at Thompson Funeral Home in Port Gibson and Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until the service.
