Vikings face run-heavy Natchez

Warren Central won’t be able to erase the stain of last week’s loss to Hattiesburg from its record. It has, however, tried to wipe it from the memory banks.

“We came in Monday, hit on the tape very briefly and moved on. We did not play with intensity at all,” WC coach Josh Morgan said.

“Moving on” means forgetting a night when nothing went right and focusing on Natchez, Friday’s opponent. Natchez enters the game with a 3-0 record and a talented backfield that will give Warren Central’s defense fits.

Tailback Larry Chatman has rushed for 468 yards and six touchdowns in three games, and quarterback Derrian Johnson has 392 yards and three scores on the ground.

Warren Central is giving up 275 yards per game on the ground. Morgan said it doesn’t take a genius to figure out what Natchez will try to do on Friday night.
