Richard George has announced his candidacy for District 5 Warren County supervisor.

George, 62, is vying for a fifth, non-consecutive term representing the southeastern county district. He is opposed by J.W. Carroll, Joe Wooley and Ellis Tillotson in the Nov. 8 general election. All are independents.

From 1997 to 1999, George was director of the Warren County Buildings and Grounds Department.

George, a 60-year resident of Warren County, graduated from St. Aloysius High School in 1967 and received a bachelor’s in business administration from Mississippi State University in 1971. He operates a cattle farm and owns commercial property in Vicksburg and Warren County.

George attends St. Michael Catholic Church. He and his wife, Shirley, have three adult children — Ricky George of Waco, Texas; and Stacey Lambiotte and Jennifer Grey, both of Vicksburg.

“I have enjoyed working with the people of Warren County and serving as your supervisor. I believe that my experience in both private business and county government will enable me to conduct the office in a progressive, prudent and impartial manner,” George said.
