Bulldogs punish Flashes

Special teams mistakes cost St. Aloysius big time Friday night.

A blocked field goal was returned 95 yards by Dexter’s Dante Butler for a momentum swinging score just 30 seconds before halftime. The huge return spurred visiting Dexter to a 30-3 Region 4-1A win at Balzli Field.

Dexter, which started the season 0-3 after reaching the Class 1A semifinals last year, also got two touchdown passes from Clifford Fernandez to get back in the region race. St. Al’s region hopes took a hit with the Flashes’ second league loss.

Flashes coach B.J. Smithhart said his team could not overcome the 11-point swing right before the half.
