Irene Briggs Sanders died Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2011, at Heritage House Nursing Home. She was 91.

Mrs. Sanders was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Douglas Manuel and Annie Birch Briggs; her husband, Austin R. Sanders Sr.; and her son, Joseph Johnson.

Survivors include her two daughters, Nola Redden of Yazoo City and Annette Lowery of Holly Bluff; four sons, Thomas “Buddy” Johnson and Paul B. Johnson, both of Delta City, Jimmy Dale Sanders of Vicksburg and Austin Sanders Jr. of Belzoni; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 today at Mortimer Funeral Home in Belzoni with the Revs. Ray Woods and John Gallagher officiating. Burial will follow at Indianola Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Indianola
