A call about a suspicious vehicle on Shady Lane led to the arrest of a 17-year-old male juvenile who had escaped Sept. 21 from Oakley Training Center in Hinds County, Vicksburg police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.

Stewart said officers responding to calls from residents about two juveniles sitting in a car parked in the 300 block of Shady Lane, in Enchanted Hills subdivision, arrived to find an empty 1995 Buick Regal that had been reported stolen about the time of the escape from a home in Hinds County in the area around Oakley.

When officers went to the teen’s mother’s house in the same block to talk with her, he fled out the back door and into a wooded area behind the house. He was later captured by a police officer and a police dog.

He was returned to Hinds County, where he will be charged with burglary and auto theft, Stewart said. He said the other teen in the car was a white male who escaped with the 17-year-old and remains at-large. His age was unavailable.
