Vicksburg Board of Mayor and Aldermen agenda items

Meeting Thursday:

• Approved a request from Morning Star Seventh Day Adventist Church to block off South Street from 3 to 4:15 p.m. on Oct. 8 for a community rally.

• Awarded a $548,683 bid for workers compensation insurance to Mississippi Municipal Services, the city’s present carrier. City Clerk Walter Osborne said the new amount is $13,749 more than the present annual premium because of city employee salary increases.

• Approved a budget amendment increasing the federal grant fund revenues by $4,140 and the capital other than building fund by $4,140.

• Adopted the final order for a $327,350 ad valorem tax exemption for Polyvulc USA Inc., and a $420,190 exemption for Falco Chemical for up to 10 years.

The exemptions cover equipment bought by the companies in 2010.

• Approved a request from the Vicksburg Warren School District to allow Warren Central High School to use the recreation department stadium bleachers for their homecoming football game tonight.

• Approved the claims docket.
