A Vicksburg man was taken to University Medical Center in Jackson after being struck with a golf club by a juvenile acquaintance around 7:20 p.m Wednesday, Lt. Bobby Stewart said.

Louis Taylor, 24, 2958 Valley St., told police he was visiting in the 200 block of Pearl Street when he argued with his girlfriend over the telephone.

After Taylor walked outside a short time later, the 15- to-16-year-old boy came around the corner, swung a golf club and hit him above his left eye, causing a 3-inch cut, Stewart said.

Taylor gave police the juvenile’s name, but police had not yet located the teen, who was expected to be charged with aggravated assault, Stewart said.

Stewart said it was unclear if there was a connection between Taylor’s girlfriend and the youth.

Taylor refused medical treatment at the scene but later went to River Region Medical Center and was transferred to UMC, Stewart said. Hospital spokesman Peggy Wagner said today that Taylor had been discharged.
