A University of Mississippi student with Vicksburg ties has been voted homecoming queen of the Oxford school.

Maggie Martha Day, a senior, will be crowned Nov. 12 during Ole Miss’ homecoming game against Louisiana Tech University.

Maggie is studying journalism and Arabic. She is enrolled in the Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College. She is a chancellor’s scholar and received the Excellence in Journalism award. Maggie’s father, Bill Day, grew up in Vicksburg and is the son of Donald and Martha Day of Vicksburg.
