Architectural Review Board’s decision on razing homes appalling

The Architectural Review Board’s Tuesday decision to allow Kansas City Southern to raze two historic buildings is appalling. If the buildings were run-down the city should have cited the railroad, which is a 24-hour nuisance in that neighborhood.
That the bricks may be “disposed of at an approved landfill” is of no comfort.
The Architectural Review Board should be abolished for this decision. Then we’ll just let people tear down whatever they want until this place looks like U.S. 80 in Jackson.
