Dillard’s department store will open a store in downtown Vicksburg for two days this weekend.

The store at 1311 Washington St. will be open as part of Small Business Saturday and Vicksburg’s Old Fashioned Christmas Open House on Sunday.

Holiday merchandise and such gift items as shoes, handbags and fragrances will be brought in from Dillard’s Vicksburg Mall store to the vacant building beside Willinghams. Hours will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, said Josh Altenthal, site manager for the department store.

He said Dillard’s will donate 10 percent of sales to the Vicksburg Main Street program.

“Any time we can support the community it’s a win win for everyone,” he said.

Kim Hopkins, director of the Vicksburg Main Street program said, “Clustering stores is a good thing because people like to park, walk and have a variety of choices. It will be one-stop shopping this holiday season in downtown Vicksburg.”
