Morene Booker Sumrall

Morene Booker Sumrall died Friday, Dec. 16, 2011. She was 71.

Mrs. Sumrall was born in Meadville, Miss., and moved to Vicksburg in 1970. She was a retired nurse’s assistant at Trace Haven Nursing Home and a member of Southside Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Otis Glen “Slick” Sumrall; her parents, Hardy and Lottie Booker; a grandson, James Edward King II; two brothers, Jack and Carl Booker; and two sisters, Lula Alexander and Vola Mae Booker.

Mrs. Sumrall is survived by three sons, James Glen Sumrall, Otis Glen Sumrall (Lisa) and Hardy Joseph Sumrall (Melissa), all of Vicksburg; one daughter, Sylvia Ann King (Brian) of Brandon; two sisters, Irene Brewer of Natchez and Madelene Carter of Meadville; and eight grandchildren, Chris King, Roy King, Tabbetha Rouillier, Zachery Sumrall, Joshua Sumrall, Logan Sumrall, Dezirah Goggins and Zach Brooks.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Greg Clemts officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from noon until the service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be David White, Paul Donovan, Chris King, Zach Brooks and Gary Alexander.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Carlos Latorre, Henry Walker, Roy King and Horace Sumrall.
