Ruby Cothran

Ruby (Diane) Cothran died Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2011, at River Region Medical Center after a lengthy illness. She was 60.

Diane was born Oct. 13, 1951, in Kosciusko and had been a resident of Vicksburg for the past 40 years. Prior to her retirement in 2008, she worked in the Coastal and Hydraulics Lab at the Waterways Experiment Station. Diane attended Immanuel Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Paul Cothran of Vicksburg; two sons, Scott and Michael Cothran of Vicksburg; grandson, Bryan Cothran of Vicksburg; granddaughter, Elizabeth Cothran of Wichita, Kan.; one brother, Billy Johnson of Columbus; one sister, Jeanette Huffman of Eupora; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Brumfield, pastor of Immanuel Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be at the Yokena Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1380 Livingston Lane, Jackson, MS 39213.

Pallbearers will be Billy E. Johnson, Tripp Purviance, Bobby Jo Fuller, Dwayne Fuller, Mark Daniels, David Lyons, Johnny Smith and Huleon Barnett.

Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of the Management Support Group of the Coastal and Hydraulics Lab at the Waterways Experiment Station.
