Vicksburg police officers speak with drivers of vehicles stopped in a roadblock on U.S. 61 South near Interstate 20 Wednesday afternoon. Lt. Jackie Johnson, division commander, identified the block as part of a national campaign during the holidays to beef up safety. He said 2,000 vehicles were stopped and 60 citations were issued, all for misdemeanor violations. The VPD worked with the Mississippi Highway Safety Patrol on the assignment.
