Kenya Burks, the former chief of staff of the office of Vicksburg Mayor Paul Winfield, has filed a federal lawsuit against the City of Vicksburg, charging sexual harassment by Winfield.
The lawsuit, which tells one side of an argument, was filed in Jackson Wednesday morning, hours after Winfield gave his first State of the City address at Vicksburg Auditorium Tuesday night.
Burks lost her job with the city in April 2011, after city officials eliminated the position. She had been paid about $70,000 annually.
The position currently is filled by a secretary who is paid about $25,000 annually.
