Beard, Crawley marry at First Baptist Church

Joseph Robert Beard and Betsy Jeanette Crawley were married at 6 p.m. Dec. 17, 2011, at First Baptist Church in Vicksburg. Dr. Douglas Matthew Buckles officiated at the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Donald Keith Crawley of Vicksburg and the late Mr. Crawley. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Harrison Bailey and the late Mr. and Mrs. James Ray Crawley.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Louis Beard Jr. of Vicksburg. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. James Mayfield Stanford of Vicksburg and the late Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Louis Beard Sr.

The bride was given in marriage by her brother, James Donald Crawley, and her mother. The bride’s chosen colors were red and green in a Christmas theme.

Musicians were Gerry Gore, Kim Halloran and Jennifer Tillotson, all of Vicksburg. Soloist was Matthew Bentsen of Chicago.

Maid of honor was Jessi Nicole Bolton of Natchitoches, La. Matron of honor was Haley Chop Pulliam of West Monroe. Bridesmaid was Allison Paige Walker of Natchitoches.

Gregory Adam Bryan and Alvin James Beard, both of Vicksburg, served as best men. Groomsmen were James Robert Elliott of Oak Grove, La., and Micah John Pulliam of West Monroe.

Ushers were Hai Tan Bui of Lafayette, La.; Alexander Clinton Chance of Montclair, Va.; James Peter Grigus of Lake Charles, La.; Trevor Seth Hall of Denton, Texas; and Lester Paul Luparello IV of Slidell, La.

Alysha Lee of Shreveport attended the guest book. Programs were distributed by Renee Grigus of Lake Charles and Jessica Talley of Shreveport.

Special wedding assistants were Carol Ann Oakman and Donna Markle, both of Vicksburg. Renee Grigus served as the bride’s proxy.

A reception followed at the Southern Cultural Heritage Center. Hosts were Helen McGehee, Nena Longmire and Mr. and Mrs. David Sills. Guests were entertained with music by Rewind.

For a wedding trip, the couple traveled to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla. They will make their home in Ruston, La.

The bride is a dental hygienist at Johnston Dental Care in Ruston. The groom is vice president/account executive of Affiliated Mortgage Company in Monroe.

Brunch

Mr. and Mrs. Ross Bentsen of Aurora, Ill., and Melissa Lickett of Edwardsville, Ill., hosted a bachelor brunch on the morning of the wedding.

Rehearsal dinner

On the eve of the wedding, the groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Roca Restaurant at the Vicksburg Country Club. Guests were entertained with music by Mike Robinson.

Luncheon

The bride honored her attendants with a bridesmaids’ luncheon at her home. Special guests were mothers of the bride and the bridesmaids.

Showers

Jimmy and Renee Grigus hosted a Mexican honey-do shower at the home of Kevin Broussard in Lake Charles.

The bride was honored with a miscellaneous shower at First Baptist Church of Vicksburg. Hostesses were Karen Boyd, Teresa Chaney, Marilyn Daggett, Janie Easterling, Lori Edney, Debbie Freeman, Janet Holland, Lisa Ingram, Beckie Kerut, Kay Lee, Donna Markle, Shellie Matthews, Jeanie McDonald, Hester Pitts, Denice Poe, Gwen Robertson, Kathie Sills, Linda Strong, Georganne Swillie, Kathy Taylor, Janell Thames and Rhonda Wolfe.

Haley Pulliam, Nikki Bolton, Allison Walker and Libby Chop honored the bride with a shower at the Pulliam home in West Monroe.

Nena Longmire and Helen McGehee honored the bride with a shower at the Longmire home.

The staff of Johnston Dental Care honored the bride with a surprise luncheon and shower at the home of Amanda Demoss in Ruston.

The staff of Affiliated Mortgage Co. in Monroe hosted a honey-do shower.

The bride and groom were honored by the Couples Sunday school class of Temple Baptist Church with a shower at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Davis.
