Louisiana-Monroe needed just one inning to score all of its runs in a 2-1 victory over Southern Miss Wednesday night at Warhawk Field.

Kameron Brunty and Jared Bales led USM’s nine-hit attack with two hits apiece. Brunty drove in the Golden Eagles’ lone run in the first on an infield single.

Connor Barron led off the game with a short blooper to leftfield that ULM shortstop Jeremy Sy dropped, putting the freshman on second base. After a grounder to move Barron up a base, Brunty’s single plated the Golden Eagles’ only run.

Pierce ended his outing with two runs on six hits with two walks and four strikeouts over 51⁄3 innings. After a groundout, Joey Rapp singled and Corben Green doubled to put runners at second and third. Following an intentional walk, Taylor Abdalla singled home the tying run.

Logan Fiasco drove in the go-ahead run after being hit by a pitch with the bases loaded by reliever Taylor Nunez.

ULM reliever Kendall Thamm (1-0) fanned seven and allowed just three hits over 32⁄3 innings to earn the victory. Wil Browning got the final out to garner his first save of the year.
