VA to host clinic in city

The G.V. “Sonny” Montgomery Veterans Affairs Medical Center Mobile Health Clinic will be at American Legion Post 213, 1618 Main St., from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 10 to provide medical and counseling services to veterans in the Vicksburg and Warren County area.

“We will have a doctor, nurses, and counselors to help veterans with medical services and to talk with veterans about benefits,” said VA adjutant Eddie Wilkerson,

He said the mobile clinic will offer physical examinations, lab work, vaccinations and other basic medical care and patient education. He said counselors will explain veterans’ benefits, how to determine eligibility, how to get ID cards, how to enroll in MyHealtheVet, VARO benefits, cemetery information and information for women veterans.

“Some veterans don’t know what they’re benefits are,” Wilkerson said. “We have a lot of veterans who have never been to the (Veterans Administation) center here in Jackson, so they don’t know the services we offer.”
