Chaney, Tidwell to wed June 16

Dr. and Mrs. Martin V. Chaney of Vicksburg announce the engagement of their daughter, Liza Kate, to Blake Justin Tidwell. Mr. Tidwell is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John M. Tidwell of Vicksburg. The engagement was announced Feb. 25 at a party at the Bazsinsky House in downtown Vicksburg.

Miss Chaney is the granddaughter of Mrs. Cecil Ward and the late Mr. Ward of Raymond and Mr. and Mrs. Mark J. Chaney of Vicksburg.

Mr. Tidwell is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Evans of Vicksburg and the late Mr. and Mrs. John Mercer Tidwell Sr.

The bride-elect is a 2007 graduate of Warren Central High School, where she was a member of the Hall of Fame, National Honor Society and varsity soccer team. She was also a member of the Vicksburg Cotillion Club and Sub-Debs.

She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary education in 2011 from the University of Mississippi, where she was a member of the chancellor’s honor roll for four years. She was a member of Kappa Delta sorority and Phi Kappa Phi and was selected for Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities.

Miss Chaney will complete her Master of Education degree in curriculum and instruction in May from Ole Miss.

The prospective groom is a 2006 graduate of St. Aloysius High School, where he was a member and captain of the varsity baseball team. He participated in the Crossroads Diamond Club All-Star baseball game.

He received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Mississippi, where he was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity.

With his father, Mr. Tidwell is managing Super Junior on U.S. 61 North and Oak Ridge.

The wedding will be at 6 p.m. June 16, 2012, at First Baptist Church of Vicksburg. A reception will follow at B’nai B’rith Literary Club. All relatives and friends are invited to attend.
