It was a perfect way to end an early-season weekend for Mississippi State. A lot of young players got some game experience, and the team got a win.

Mississippi State used six freshman pitchers and set season-highs in both runs scored and hits during a 16-6 rout of Lipscomb at Dudy Noble Field.

The Bulldogs (10-2) finished with 19 hits in all, and won their fourth straight game. They took two games apiece from Lipscomb (4-8) and Connecticut during a three-team double-round robin series.

Despite its seemingly easy win Sunday, Mississippi State actually had to come from behind twice in the early going. Lipscomb held leads of 3-0 and 6-5 before MSU struck for eight runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. The Bulldogs had seven hits in the inning, four of them for extra bases.

C.T. Bradford had a two-run single during the fourth inning, a two-run homer in the eighth, and finished the game 4-for-6 with six RBIs. He was a triple shy of the cycle.

Adam Frazier and Daryl Norris both went 3-for-5 with two RBIs for Mississippi State, and six players had more than one hit.

Jonathan Holder, the third of the six freshman pitchers used by coach John Cohen, got the win with 22⁄3 innings of scoreless relief. He gave up two hits and struck out three, and his stint was the longest of the day for the Bulldogs.
