O’Neill Williams Sr.

Services for O’Neill Williams Sr. will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at United Missionary Baptist Church in Edwards with the Rev. Elzie O’Neil officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Moriah M.B. Church Cemetery in Edwards. Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Friday at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home with the family being present from 4 until 6 p.m.

Mr. Williams died Wednesday, March 14, 2012, at his daughter’s home in Jackson. He was 80.

He was a member of United Missionary Baptist Church where he served as deacon for more than 50 years. He was a retired heavy-equipment operator for Hinds County.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Smith-Williams; his son, Christopher Williams; and a sister, Dorothy Williams-Dameron.

Survivors include three daughters, Betty Johns, Onetta Samuel and Bonita Williams, all of Jackson; three sons, O’Neill Williams Jr. of Los Angeles, Derrick Williams of Jackson and Jerry Williams of Edwards; four brothers, Eddie Williams of Lake Providence, Emmett Williams of Vallejo, Calif., Howard Williams of Richmond, Calif., and Rufus Williams of Edwards; two sisters, Shirley Williams-Felker of Chicago and Edna Williams-Smothers of Vicksburg; 15 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
