Harry Anthony Piazza Jr.

Harry Anthony Piazza Jr., 64, passed away on March 14, 2012, at home surrounded by his family after a five-year battle with cancer. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until noon on Saturday, March 24, at Wright & Ferguson, 201 Hinds Blvd., in Raymond. A graveside service will follow at Raymond Cemetery.

Harry was born in Vicksburg on July 23, 1947, to Harry Anthony Piazza Sr. and Erlene Grayson Piazza. He grew up in Vicksburg and attended St. Aloysius, graduating in 1965. He served in the Army Reserves and attended the University of Mississippi, majoring in business. Harry had a varied professional career in sales and real estate and enjoyed public speaking. Harry was the full-time minister at New Thought Ministry of Jackson from 1991 until he became ill in 2007.

Harry loved to work out, ride his Harley, travel in motor homes and watch Ole Miss football. He was especially proud of his two young grandsons and tried to attend as many of their ball games as possible.

The family would like to thank Dr. Van Lackey and Camellia Hospice, as well as friends and relatives who prayed, called, sent cards and aided in his care over the past five years.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Rhodes Piazza of Pearl; son, Harry Anthony Piazza III of Nashville, Tenn.; daughters, Tiffany Piazza Grove of Raymond and Natalie Piazza Crowder of Florence; grandsons, Bryan Ray Grove and John Piazza Grove of Raymond; brothers, Michael Piazza of Clinton and Wiley Piazza of Cincinnati, Ohio; mother-in-law, Minnie Rhodes of Pearl; aunt, Sister Jude Marie Piazza of St. Louis, Mo.; cousins; and numerous nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by his two loving canines, Tara and Guido.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society through the Relay for Life team “Songs from Above” at 1380 Livingston Lane, Jackson, MS 39213. Songs from Above team members include members of his family who will participate in the event in Madison on April 20, 2012, in remembrance of Harry.
