Prescription drugs are missing today after an early- morning break-in at a county pharmacy.

At 12:52 a.m. today, a burglar used a brick to break the side window of Helping Hands Pharmacy, 1670 U.S. 61 North, Sheriff Martin Pace said.

“It appears that they may have taken a small amount of pharmaceuticals and fled on foot,” Pace said.

The burglar fled quickly and was not at the pharmacy when deputies arrived 6 minutes after the alarm sounded, Pace said.

“They were in and out probably in a minute,” Pace said.

A complete inventory of the store was being taken today and deputies are reviewing surveillance footage, Pace said.
