Joyce Coleman Nzerem

SAN FRANCISCO — Joyce Coleman Nzerem died Friday, March 16, 2012, at her home in San Francisco. She was 69.

She received Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in English education from Alcorn State University. She was an English teacher in San Francisco for more than 25 years. She was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc.

Mrs. Nzerem was preceded in death by her parents, Vincent and Beulah Coleman.

She is survived by two daughters, Ifeyinwa Nzerem and Uzoamaka Nzerem, both of San Francisco; a son, Chidozie Nzerem of Dusseldorf, Germany; three sisters, Laverne Johnson and Connie Coleman, both of Lorman, and Audrey Murphy of Milwaukee, Wis.; two brothers, Kenneth Coleman of Daly City, Calif., and Melvin Coleman of South San Francisco; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mount Olive M.B. Church in the Westside community near Port Gibson with the Rev. Elijah Brown officiating. Burial will follow at the Carbondale Cemetery under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home Inc. of Port Gibson.
