A Vicksburg woman accused of fracturing the skull of a 6-month-old girl in her care was held without bail today.

Vontricia Fuller, 48, 1318 Spring St., was arrested Sunday and charged with felony child abuse, police Capt. Bobby Stewart said.

Fuller was baby-sitting the girl and her 3-year-old brother at her home when she called the girl’s mother to report that the girl was unconscious, Stewart said. The 3-year-old was not injured, Stewart said.

The girl was taken to River Region Medical Center by her mother, and police were called at 1:19 p.m. to investigate the injuries as child abuse, Stewart said. Stewart declined to release the name of the child.

“She suffered multiple skull fractures,” Stewart said.

From River Region, the girl was taken to University Medical Center in Jackson, where she remains in critical condition, Stewart said.

Fuller, who is a friend of the girl’s mother, was held this morning in the Issaquena County Jail pending her initial court appearance today.

On her Facebook page, Fuller lists her occupation as disabled, and she is not a licensed child care professional, Stewart said.
