Fred Astaire, he’s not, but Fred Farrell of Vicksburg took his toes to the stage Saturday night for Dancing with the Vicksburg Stars to perform with his daughter, Ann Roberson, right, and granddaughter, Maggie Roberson, 8. The three were the overall winners in the toe-tapping fundraiser for the United Way of West Central Mississippi at Southern Cultural Heritage Center. The three actually shared the first-place win with Dr. Elizabeth Swinford, superintendent of the Vicksburg Warren School District, and Gerardo Velazquez and Gustavo Galan, but the Farrell trio received more points in scoring. The United Way reported that nine groups danced for the more than 350 people in the audience and raised more than $6,000. Maggie is a second-grader at St. Francis Xavier Elementary.
