A Yazoo City man was charged with armed robbery early today after he demanded money from a fast-food restaurant manager as she was leaving work just after 12:30 a.m., Capt. Bobby Stewart said.

Jon Daniel Gross, 21, 1203 Lamar Ave., approached the manager of McDonald’s, 2289 N. Frontage Road, gestured as if he had a gun and demanded the deposit, Stewart said.

After the manager told him the money was in the restaurant and grabbed her phone to call 911, Gross ran to a Toyota Camry parked next door at a car dealership and drove off, Stewart said.

Police arrested Gross minutes later at North Frontage Road and Indiana Avenue. No money was taken, and the manager was not injured, said Stewart.

A passenger in the car was questioned and Stewart said an additional arrest is possible. A weapon had “not yet” been recovered, he said.
