Jimmie W. Hart

Jimmie W. Hart died Monday, April 16, 2012, at his home. He was 81.

A lifelong resident of Vicksburg, Mr. Hart was a member of Northside Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the Army and receiving awards, including the Purple Heart, Bronze Star with V, Korean Service medal with three bronze campaign stars, U.N. Service medal and Combat Infantry Badge.

He was a deckhand for the Corps of Engineers, a farmer and an operator for the Kings Point Ferry.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Fannie Lee Hart; two sisters; and five brothers.

Survivors include four sons, Jimmie Dale “Bo” Hart, Michael Curtis Hart, Tony Phillip Hart and Raymond Hart, all of Vicksburg; one daughter, Brenda Joyce Hart of Vicksburg; a sister, Frances Nielson of Vicksburg; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Frank Lescallette officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Friday until the service.
