Jesse T. Baker died Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at River Region Medical Center. He was 69.

Mr. Baker was born in Walnut Ridge, Ark., and had lived in Vicksburg for the past 50 years. He was retired from the Vicksburg Fire Department with the rank of captain. He was a member of Bovina United Methodist Church. He was a member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge No. 1581.

He was devoted to his family and friends. He loved fishing and camping.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Mabel Baker; and a brother, Lavon Baker.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Kitty Baker of Vicksburg; one son, Tommy Baker (Margaret) of Vicksburg; one daughter, Lisa Hasty (John) of Brandon; two brothers, Earl Dale Baker (Paula) of Panama City, Fla., and Truel Baker (Dian) of Black Rock, Ark.; four sisters, Novella Bradshaw (Lester) of Waxhaw, N.C., Fredia Handley of Haughton, La., Linda Middleton (Bobby) of Vicksburg and Phyllis Johnson (J.C.) of Conyers, Ga.; and three grandchildren, Brenna Hallberg, Lucas Hasty and Ashlyn Baker.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Glenwood Chapel with the Rev. John Evans officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Friday until the hour of service.

Pallbearers will be Billy Griffin, Jerry Collins, Robert Pierce, John Wilkinson, Wesley Boykin and T.J. Stubbs.

Honorary pallbearers will be active and retired firefighters, Charles Landers, Wayne Williamson and Darryl Williamson.
