Classic cars get Roger Harris’ engine revving.

Harris, vice president of Vicksburg Cruisers, will have two of his prized cars on display during the club’s Red Carpet Classic Auto Show beginning at 8 a.m. at Blackbun Motor Co., 2135 N. Frontage Road.

His “dream cars” — a black with flame-striped 1934 Plymouth and a silver 1964 Corvette — and about 100 other cars, trucks and motorcycles will be on display for the show.

“We’ll have cars pulling in from all over the South,” he said.

The Plymouth was purchased by Harris’ father at a service station in Hot Coffee in 1961.

“He played with it and built it in several different transformations over the years — from a hot rod to a street rod — and finally set the car up in his barn in the early ’80s,” Harris said.

After nearly two decades of negotiating with his father, Harris was able to get the Plymouth in 1999.

“It took me three years to build it back to how I wanted it,” he said.

Since the restoration, the Plymouth has been featured in four national automotive magazines.

Harris bought the Corvette in 2001 and finished restoring it in 2003.
