St. Aloysius extended its season by another game, but not another round.

The Lady Flashes beat Stringer 11-7 in Game 2 of their best-of-three playoff series Saturday, then lost 4-3 in the decisive Game 3.

Stringer scored the eventual winning run in the fourth inning, then hung on late to advance. Stringer will next play Nanih Waiya in the Class 1A quarterfinal. St. Al finished its season with an 11-13 record.

“We ended the season on a high note, even though we lost,” St. Al coach Gene Rogillio said. “We lose one senior, and I think next year we’ll be in good shape to make a run at it.”

St. Al jumped out to a 5-0 lead in Game 2 and held off a feisty Stringer squad to stay alive. Pitcher Avery Parman got the victory.

Stringer had won Game 1, 10-4 on Friday, and Rogillio said he was happy with his team’s effort Saturday.

“Considering where we were three weeks ago, fighting to get into the playoffs, they did a great job,” Rogillio said.
